The Nunavut Sport and Recreation Hall of Fame will have two main categories.

1) ATHLETE CATEGORY

• Individual Athlete

  • A competitor in a solo event(s) or an outstanding individual from a team event.

• Team

  • A team shall consist of two or more members who have achieved an outstanding athletic accomplishment

2) BUILDERS CATEGORY

• Builders are individuals whose efforts as leaders, administrators, officials, coaches, business leaders, media or in other roles make an outstanding contribution to Nunavut sport.

1) Athletes - Any individual athlete or team in amateur or professional sport who has achieved outstanding & extraordinary success in Nunavut and/or Canada, or as a Nunavummiut competing abroad.

Athlete nominees shall not ordinarily be considered until five (5) years after retirement from major competition.

2) Builders - Any individual who has made an outstanding and extraordinary contribution to grassroots, amateur or professional sport in Nunavut other than as a competitor.

Builder nominees maybe either active or inactive at the time of their consideration.

3) Nominees must have been born in Northwest Territories (pre-1999) or Nunavut and/or lived in Northwest Territories (pre-1999) or Nunavut for a period of 10 years.

4) The nominee must be in good standing with NU Sport Federation and it’s member Territorial Sport/Recreation Organizations

1) Nominations for selection may be made by any Nunavummiut or by a Nunavut sport / recreation organization.

2) Nominations shall be made with the 'On-Line Nomination Form.'

3) The deadline for nominations in any calendar year shall be May 15.

4) A nomination will stand for a three (3) year cycle. If a nomination is not elected in the first year, the name/team will stand for another two years.
