NUNAVUT BASKETBALL
Since 2018, Nunavut Basketball (NUBA) has been growing the game across Nunavut — empowering players, coaches, and communities.

From grassroots community camps to high-level competition, NUBA is all about creating opportunities for all Nunavummiut to learn, play, and compete in a positive, supportive environment.
In August 2025, Nunavut Basketball made history, sending teams to represent Nunavut for the first time ever at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
We’re proud, we’re Nunavummiut, and we’re just getting started!

TOURNAMENTS
Nunavut Basketball (NUBA) hosts two major 18U tournaments annually.

Details for the 2026 Championships will be announced soon!

These tournaments play a key role in identifying athletes for future Team Nunavut representation at major events such as the Arctic Winter Games, North American Indigenous Games, and the Canada Games.
GRASSROOTS
Building Basketball Across Nunavut

One of Nunavut Basketball’s biggest goals is to grow the game across Nunavut. Our mission is to run grassroots basketball camps and clinics in each region, every year — helping players and coaches develop their skills and confidence.

Each Grassroots Camp runs for about 3-4 days, with NUBA Coaches leading both school clinics and community/club sessions.

School Clinics are introductory, hands-on sessions held during physical education classes. Using circuit-style skill stations, students get focused instruction in a fun, supportive setting with smaller coach-to-student ratios.

Community and Club Sessions build on those skills, preparing athletes, coaches, and teams for upcoming NUBA Regional Tournaments while helping identify athletes for major events such as the Arctic Winter Games, North American Indigenous Games, and the Canada Games.

COACHING
Nunavut Basketball (NUBA) believes in empowering community coaches to deliver high-quality basketball experiences across the territory. Through ongoing coach training and development, NUBA helps prepare local coaches to lead teams at the 18U Regional Championships and to support athlete growth within the NUBA High Performance Program.

Volunteer coaches are the heart of basketball in Nunavut — their dedication and leadership keep the game growing in every community.
