TRADITIONAL SPORTS
TRADITIONAL SPORTS in Nunavut is a combination of two different disciplines; ARCTIC SPORTS and DENE GAMES.
ARCTIC SPORTS
Arctic Sports is engrained in the traditions and cultures of Nunavut and consists of several unique feats of athletic strength and endurance. Events include the One-Foot High Kick, Two-Foot High Kick, Alaskan High Kick, Kneel Jump, Triple Jump, Arm Pull, Airplane, One Hand Reach, Head Pull and Knuckle Hop.

The Arctic Sports is always one of the most attended events at Arctic Winter Games.

DENE GAMES

Similar to Arctic Sports, the Dene Games are greatly intertwined with traditional and cultural values, which focus on demonstrating sportsmanship, a competitive desire to perform to the best of their capabilities, and to have fun with their teammates as well as their opponents.

The unique Dene Games events include: finger pull, snow-snake, stick pull, hand games and pole push, and an all-round event consisting of the scores for the three individual events.
