NU SPORT FEDERATION COMPLAINTS PROCESS (NSFCP)

The NU Sport Complaints Process (NSFCP) provides members of the Nunavut sport community with access to a fair, impartial, and transparent process for addressing complaints and disputes arising within the NU Sport Federation (NSF) and its Member Organizations.

The NSFCP is designed to ensure that concerns are handled in a timely, confidential, and consistent manner while respecting the rights of all parties involved.​

ELIGIBLE COMPLAINTS

 

The following matters may be eligible to enter the NSFCP:

​

1) Complaints of Maltreatment

Complaints involving maltreatment as defined in the Universal Code of Conduct to Prevent and Address Maltreatment in Sport (UCCMS), including harassment, abuse, discrimination, bullying, neglect, and other prohibited behaviours.

2) Code of Conduct and Policy Violations

Complaints involving alleged violations of:

  • Codes of Conduct

  • Safe Sport Policies

  • Organizational Policies

  • Membership obligations

  • Selection Policies

​

3) Appeals

The following appeals may be considered, subject to the applicable grounds for appeal:

  • Final decisions of an NSF Member Organization alleging that the organization failed to follow its constitution, by-laws, policies, or procedures.

  • Final decisions rendered through the NSFCP dispute resolution process.

INDEPENDENT COMPLAINT MANAGEMENT

All complaints submitted through the NSFCP will be reviewed by an independent Intake Officer, who will determine whether the complaint falls within the scope of the applicable policies and procedures.

 

Where appropriate, complaints may be referred to:

  • A Fair Play Chair

  • An Investigator

  • A Dispute Resolution Officer

  • A Mediator or Arbitrator

  • An Appeal Manager or Appeal Panel

The Intake Officer's role is to ensure complaints are directed to the most appropriate process while maintaining fairness and procedural integrity.​

The NU Sport Federation is committed to maintaining confidentiality throughout the complaint process to the extent possible and as permitted by law. Information will only be shared with those individuals necessary to properly administer and resolve the complaint.​
